XlRI welcomed the second batch (2013–16) batch of ‘Three-Year, Part-Time Program in Business Management’. The classes will commence from June 2 2013.
Welcoming the new batch, Fr. E Abraham S.J., Director of XlRI said at the event, “The world economy has entered into a slow-growth phase and is also appearing quite unpredictable at times. XlRI has always been at the forefront to help create a robust management education eco-system since its inception.”
He further adds “This program involves class-room and experiential learning for individuals in their early or mid-career phase, mostly high-performing employees who are being groomed by their organization to move into leadership roles”.
The programme, popularly known as ‘BM Evening Program’ for working executives and entrepreneurs is an AICTE approved program an culminates in a Postgraduate Diploma in Management. It ill impart the rigour of a full-time program through 900 hours of class room interaction, but spread over 3 academic years.
The program was re-launched last year (2012) incorporating a number of changes made on the basis of feedback from the industry.
The total intake for the batch of 2013 – 16 is 70 candidates. Majority of the candidates are from three reputed Tata group companies based in Jamshedpur. The industry experience of the candidates at the beginning of the program varies from about 2 years to 26 years, with an average of 8 years and a median of 6.5 years.
The spread of age between the oldest and the youngest candidate is 28 years. The candidates from the industry have diverse types of work experience including, operation and maintenance, supply chain, R&D, quality control, project management, IT, sales and marketing, corporate finance.
Four out of 70 selected candidates are females. The cumulative experience of nearly 566 person-years with such an overall diversity creates an excellent context, which is conducive for reflective thinking and enhanced peer learning.
