In a move to ensure discipline on the campus, the XlRI-Xavier School of Management- has announced to ban consumption of alcohol on the campus, even during functions and festivals.
The decision was taken after four first year students, from Business Management and Human Resource Management, including three girls, fell ill after over-consumption of alcohol and were admitted to the Tata Main Hospital on the campus late on Thursday night. An XlRI official said that the school in principle has decided to ban consumption of alcohol on the campus. A meeting of the B-school management has also been called in this regard.
“We have also decided to form a students’ committee which will ensure that students abstain from taking alcohol. Disciplinary action will be taken against a student found indulging in the act,” he said.
The four students including three girls who were in drunken condition were rushed to the hospital’s critical care unit (CCU). The four students are still recuperating in the hospital and are likely to be released on Monday or on Tuesday.
General Manager of Tata Main Hospital, G Ramdas said the condition of all the four students were almost normal.
Superintendent of police (city) Karthik S said they are investigating the matter and are looking into if any legal action can be initiated against those students.
