XISS students suffer from food poisoning

Published on:

On Saturday night as many as 19 students of Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (earlier known as Personnel Management) of Xavier Institute of Social Service were rushed to Guru Nanak Hospital after they had snacks from the distributed food packets at the certificate distribution of social field programme held at their institute premises around 4pm. Most were admitted to ICCU whereas two or three student’s condition was better after flushing the food intake.

The food packets included vegetable chop, rosogolla and vegetable sandwiches. As per sources, students began vomiting after taking the snacks. It was then they were taken to the hospital.

The get together included 140 people including the students and alumni. It is to be noticed that XISS has no hostel and the students are accommodated at nearby lodges. According to the doctors, either the rosogolla or the butter in the sandwich has lead to some food poisoning. However, XISS Director did not divulge any details when The Pioneer tried to contact him.
