A worker died in an accident inside the Sundram Steel Plant at Balidih Industrial Area in Bokaro. Vimal Munda (26) was a contract worker and was on duty at plant. He was a resident of Manjhi Tola under Nerkera Panchyat.
According to the eyewitnesses, Munda died on the spot after accident. last night (10.30 PM) a bearing slipped form the mortar and heavily hits on Munda’s chest, resulted into his death”, added eyewitness.
The body of the deceased was handed over by the police to his kins after postmortem. Management has instant given Rs 40,000 cash to his father and assured for Rs 6 lakh compensation to the next kin of Munda.
But union leaders and workers are protesting for Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the Munda’s kin alleging its all the negligence of the plant management. Plant has very old equipments and it lacks with several safety norms.
At the time of accident Munda was without helmet, working on a height of about 20 feet. Meanwhile, attempts to contact with plant management failed.
