To control illegal mining of coal, stone and other precious material, a meeting of all the departments and administration officials concerned took place on Saturday in North Chotanagpur division chaired by Commissioner Surendra Singh Meena.

In the meeting, it became clear that every departmental head tried their best to throw the ball in others’ court. The CCl and BCCl officials said that to stop illegal coal mining they need proper support and help from the administration. The forest department officials also threw the ball in police’s court claiming that police makes way for the culprits to get out of the bar.

Meena informed that proper coordination is important, between different wings or departments related with mining, to keep a check at it. He further suggested working with coordination and assign particular responsibilities to department and officials concerned so that the officials remain connected.

It was also decided that review meetings will be a monthly affair now in order to check this malpractice which takes place at a large scale causing huge revenue loss to the Government. The Commissioner especially instructed the officials of the mining department to look into the papers of pollution control board and other concerned authorities while checking any such mine.

The officials of CCl, BCCl, DVC, NTPC, pollution control board and the mining department along with DIG Bokaro and Hazaribagh, all the DCs and SPs of the districts of this division attended the meeting.
