Police have taken the blood samples of Vinay Kumar, the 28-year-old youth, who is accused of killing 43-year-old Khemlata Devi, wife of a Tata Steel employee at her house on Tansa Road in Kadma on June 28.
The police took the blood sample of the murder accused for getting a DNA test in a Ranchi based forensic science laboratory (FSl) so as to establish whether he had any illicit relation with the victim.
Following a court order, the murder accused, Vinay who is presently lodged in Ghaghidih Central Jail was brought to the MGM Medical College and Hospital's pathological department, from where the blood sample was collected Monday evening. The blood sample will be sent to the FSl for which the police have on Tuesday submitted a fresh petition with the court of first class judicial magistrate Vishal Gaurab.
The victim Khemlata Devi was found lying in a pool of blood at her residence in Kadma on June 28, when her husband returned from the duty from the company.
She was rushed to Tata Main Hospital emergency where she was declared as brought dead.
The police detected it by arresting Vinay Kumar from his Sonari residence in July last. During the interrogation, Kumar had accepted that he had illicit relation with the woman, but he killed her as she refused to keep further relation with him in view of her plan for adopting a 12-year-old girl.
Superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand said that they wanted to get a DNA test as the experts in the FSl have got a trace of simen in the vaginal swap of the victim.
"It was a tough case but we have been able to crack it. We are getting a DNA test on the accused Vinay Kumar as the FSl has got traces of semen in the vaginal swap of the murder victim. We have to get the accused convicted," said Anand
