A woman in Koldiha Block of  Giridih district succumbed to labour pain in the absence of doctors in Sadar hospital Giridih on Sunday. According to reports the victim Shahida Khatoon, wife of Salim Pardeshi a resident of Jogitard village under Koldiha block, around 10 km from Giridih town, was admitted to the Sadar hospital Giridih, amidst severe labour pain Sunday morning. The patient’s husband took her to another hospital in Giridih in a three wheeler. However, upon reaching the hospital, the man suffered the shock of his life when doctors declared the mother and child in her womb were dead.

This is the second incident within month in the hospital when a patient died in absence of doctor, sources said.
