A 40-year old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping from fourth floor of Hariom tower- a major shopping complex of the city- under Lalpur police station area on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Ratna Dhir of Itki road located under Pandra police station. Manish, the brother of deceased woman had informed the local police that his sister has gone missing from home on December 1.
He had also mentioned that she was suffering from mental problems. The family and the police had launched a search to locate her since Saturday.
Sources said Dhir was suffering from depression as she did not have a child after marriage. Police have, however, not confirmed the report.
Locals informed that a group of students present in the Hariom towers had seen the woman standing close to the railing in the morning.
They asked her to go back a little and then went away.
The woman apparently jumped from the top and died due to severe head injuries received during the fall.
Police have sent the body for autopsy.
