A 32-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in Farm Area under Kadma police station area on Thursday. Krishna Nayak, wife of Shukumar Nayak and mother of two children hanged herself.
The woman went to bed along with her children (a seven-year-old girl and five-year-old boy). In morning, one of the rooms in the residence was found closed from inside. When the door was not opened despite repeated knocks, he broke open it and found her hanging from ceiling fan.
The police said that this was a case of suicide and that they have sent the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem. Officer-in-charge, Kadma police station, Ras Behari lal said that after initial investigation they found that the woman was suffering from some mental illness. The officer-in-charge said there was no other apparent reason behind the suicide as the family was otherwise a happy family.Shukumar who is a Tata Steel employee and works as a cook at the GT Hostel in Kadma was shocked to see his wife hanging.
