Tension has gripped Banchatra village in the Gomia police station area of Bokaro district after a woman was dragged out of her house and also beaten up after being accused of practicing witchcraft, police said on Tuesday. Sources said most of family members have left the village for fearing of villagers action .Majority of the female members has escaped to neighboring villages because they fearing that some local villagers will beat up them though they are not responsible for the child death in the village.
Sources said the death of a two-year old boy at the village, his father Jagarnath Ganju went to a local ojha (Quack)asked him for death of his son .while Patna based ojha who told them that Sonia Devi’s witchcraft led to the death of his son .He alleging that the woman Sonia Devi had done some jadu-tona on the two year old boy that led to his death .
Since then some local villagers along with victim family have been harassing the woman and also beat her up ,injuring her head and leg .later she was admitted in Gomia Idear hospital .They also have threatened repeatedly to kill her.
