Sirf Bahu nahi bahumat,’ (Not only house-wives but majority) — the famous awareness campaign — apparently proved effective in the State capital to woo the female voters, who turned out in a big number at the polling booths to participate in deciding the fate of country.
A housewife Renuka Sahay, who in her 33 years’ journey, stepped out of the door for the first time to vote, said, “Politics has never remained my cup of tea. I was of the opinion that with only one vote dream of change is impossible. The repeated advisements on the idiot box by my favourite stars forced me to think on my decision and finally I decided to vote this election.”
Another lady Taruna Singhania, who was waiting in a long queue for past one hour to vote, said, “Although I am not voting for the first time but the candidates’ innovative campaign trail and unexpected twist and turns in the political scenario in past few months has infused an excitement within me. I am looking forward to witness the impact of my vote.”
State’s six parliamentary Constituencies- Giridih, Ranchi, Khunti, Hazaribagh, Singhbum and Jamshedpur- went to poll on Thursday. “I thank media for realizing me the importance of each vote. We housewives have always maintained distance from politics got influenced by the repeated informative advisements of media,” said Sakshi Bansal.
Besides, praising media for playing a pivotal role in creating awareness among them, the state capital’s fairer sex also acknowledged the candidates and their spouse and family members’ contribution in drawing the female voters to the booths. “I was impressed with Subodh Kant Sahai’s better half Rekha and daughter Gauri’s efforts. I could feel the heat of the development and change flame ignited by these two within me. Their appealing speeches and door to door efforts have drawn me to the polling centres,” pointed out Kabita Mittal.
like her, another lady Sikha Singh said, “Candidates’ family members accompanying their campaign trail and carrying out one to one communication with the audience was quite appealing for the masses. I was influenced by the loud campaign trails of the candidate.”
Interestingly, some female voters with the intention to bring about the much needed change in the society reached the polling centres to lock their decision in favour of the suitable candidate.
“We all are aware about our country’s current political scenario. It is the need of the hour to clean the corruption which is taking roots before its too late,” said Anita Desai. Meanwhile, the presiding officers at the polling station have also given thumbs up to the female voters’ turnout. Presiding Officer of Polling centre number 120 Debashish Kumar said, “In comparison to previous year this time the graph of female voters’ turnout is on rising trend.”
