Taking a serious note of the long traffic snarl on NH 6, Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Saturday said that the Government would immediately release funds to the tune of `15 to `20 lakh to the East Singhbhum District administration to make the road on NH-6 stretch connecting Baharagora motorable.

Talking to the reporters on the sidelines of Janmashtami celebration at Surya Mandir in Sidgora the CM said that he had discussions with the Road Construction Department

and the Government has decided to release funds to ease traffic at NH 6.

It may be mentioned that that the jam of more 140 hours on NH-6 stretch between Baharagora and Jamsola with breakdown of vehicles on the road leading to serpentine queues of vehicles has made life difficult for the people.

Das said: “ I spoke on the authorities of Road Construction Department. The East Singhbhum administration will be asked to make the road motorable so that the jam can be eased”. He added that funds to the tune of `15 to `20 lakh would be released.

The jam like situation is due to dilapidated 10 km Jharia More (in East Singhbhum)- Baharagora stretch on NH-33 and 7 km on Baharagora-Jamsola (Odisha) stretch on NH-6.

This stretch is used by heavy vehicles and long distance buses coming from different parts of Jharkhand for going to Bengal, Odisha through Ghatshila and Baharagora.

The Chief Minister also asked the junior doctors of MGM Medical College and Hospital to end their strike. He said that the pending salaries of four months will be released in a week. The doctors must return to work and on humanitarian ground, they must extend services to the patients immediately.

Das also greeted the people on Janmashtami and expressed hope that the occasion would lead to peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the State.

He noted that the divine message of lord Krishna, enshrined in the Shrimad Bhagvad Gita, inspires all to do one’s duty to the best of one’s ability and not to worry for the benefits. He prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.

Meanwhile, devotees offered prayers to mark birth of lord Krishna  at Surya Mandir Sidgora. Chief Minister Raghubar Das, who is also patron of Surya Mandir Committee, was the chief guest of the occasion.

The temple was beautifully decorated with streamers and lights, which was lit up at night. A huge tableau was prepared and lord Krishna and Radha in new clothes were decorated with flowers for the celebration will. Several competitions  like Handi Fodh and Bal Krishna Sajao were organised.
