Former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has said that he has enough evidence to substantiate his charges of phone tapping by the State Government.
Talking to The Pioneer, the senior leader of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) said that he has relevant documents to prove his stance right and Government must first order for probe and he will provide required documents to the investigating team. “I have documents and only after studying those I raised my concerns. How can I furnish those documents to the Government, I will only hand over to the investigating agency. The Government should call a probe,” Marandi stated.
It may here be recalled here that addressing a press meet at Jamshedpur on Saturday CM Raghubar Das had said that Marandi must prove the phone tapping charges in 24 hours or apologize to the people of Jharkhand.
CM had also asked the media to verify the matter before publishing it and said these people are just trying to malign Jharkhand’s image. Significantly, Marandi on Friday accused the government of tapping 3000 phones of politicians, bureaucrats and some intelligence officials. He demanded a SIT probe into phone tapping of 3,000 people, including politicians, lawyers, journalists and businessmen allegedly by state government.
“I met Governor Droupadi Murmu to apprise her about the development and demanded probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe. I reiterate that I have relevant documents to prove that phone calls were tapped of influential persons,” noted Marandi. He called it a serious issue.
When questioned about his views on the completion of one year of NDA Government in State, Marandi claimed that the law and order has hit an all time low with broad daylight incidents of crime becoming a regular feature.
He said that though transfer posting of officers is a regular phenomenon but in the State it has led to rise in crime graph. He added that the situation at Jharkhand has become a matter of great concern. He also said that the criminals have regained confidence after law and order machinery has gone for a toss.
He also took a dig at CM’s announcement that his Ministers will spend days in villages to study the ground reality. He said that after some initial visits the Government is least bothered to send their Ministers to the villages.
Marandi claimed that the Raghubar Das-led government in the state had made several announcements at the time of elections but miserably failed to deliver on all fronts in its one-year-rule.
