First time in Hazaribag when a wild elephant separated from the group entered into the town areas and killed two farmers and several persons became injured. The civic administration informed the forest department and immediately reached near the spot and tried to drive away the wild elephant from the town area. The wild elephant is still sitting in Melatand.
As per the report from the forest department the Divisional Forest Officer Saba Alam said that this jumbo was separated from the group at 5 am early in the morning on Wednesday and in search of the group jumbo reached Khergaon.
On this spot two farmers were working in their field the wild jumbo firstly injured them and attacked till their last life. Both the dead persons were namely Damodar Sao of 66 and Dhaneshwar Sao of 68.
The wild jumbo injured the two women one is under the treatment in SBMCH and second is in RMCH Ranchi. The injured women’s name are Pinki Kumari and Purnima Kumari. Some other persons who were injured were released from the hospital after the primary treatment.
The district administration has given the compensation to the families of both died persons 25,000 cash immediately.
The wild jumbo is still sitting in the Melatand near to Khergaon Mohalla. The forest team are waiting for the darkness so that the jumbo can be moved from the town areas to the jungle.
