In order to ensure wider roads and encroachment free intersections in the State capital, Urban Development Department has warned the private players to shift their hoardings from the encroached land or it will be removed and auctioned after August 1. A team of top officials from Road Construction, Urban Development Department, after taking stock of the condition of roads and squares ensured that Ranchi will be a changed place by this Durga Puja.

“Encroachments from all the roads in Ranchi are to be removed after measurement…. All the important squares especially Ratu Road, Argora chowk, Kantatoli Chowk and Karamtoli chowk has to be streamlined,” said Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department Arun Kumar Singh. Besides that, construction of flyovers on Kantatoli and Ratu Road Chowk has also to be worked out which has he maximum burden of traffic on them, added Singh.

“Overall widening every road in Ranchi has to be widened after clearing them of encroachments providing all other facilities like footpath and bus stops etc. to them,” Singh said.

Stress was also given on removing encroachments from the government land for widening of roads on Ratu Road without entering into the lengthy process of acquiring land from the private parties.

“Special attention is being given on Ratu Road and encroachment from all sides will be removed very soon ……… I expect that the results will be visible by this Durga Puja,” said Secretary of Road construction Department Rajbala Verma. Expansion of the square from all the four corners of Ratu Road Chowk is to be done for smooth movement of traffic on it, she added.

“We are more concerned about Ratu Road which has the maximum burden of VIP movement as well as heavy vehicles on it coming from outside besides two wheelers and light motor vehicles,” said Verma.
