Whiff of change for development evident in Palamu: DC Ameet

Published on:

Palamu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ameet Kumar is one of the few officers who does not carry a cartload of mediapersons when he pushes off for some interior locations in this district which has for long suffered the onslaughts of extremism. Amid so many innovative schemes being launched and implemented across the State, the DC feels that there is a whiff of change in the ditrsict that has remined devoid of development since decades. Kumar talked to The Pioneer, on various issues on Monday. Excerpts:

Kekargarh village is under Adarsh Gram Yojna. What developmental activities have taken off hereIJ

There was a time when Kekargarh was a difficult place.  Now the scenario has changed there. A kind of easiness has come over here. Kekargarh is all set to develop. An NGO has been roped in for the makeover of its image by way of development. It was taken up as Adarsh Gram Yojna quite late but it is very much on the priority list of this administration.

How is Palamu doing on the front of making blocks, villages ODFIJ

Palamu’s blocks Satbarwa, Parwa, Manatu and Nawa Bazar are making a great headway towards ODF. Satbarwa is just weeks away from getting this tag of ODF. Parwa block too has made significant strides in this direction. As regards Manatu Pipra Nawa Bazar blocks some more time is needed.

The CM in his last visit had said that 36 blocks in this Palamu Division are sans any woman SHG (Self Help Group). He wanted quick formation of WSHG. How is Palamu going about thisIJ

There are five intensive blocks in Palamu where WSHG are in comfortable position, As for the non intensive blocks efforts are on the anvil. Under NRlM (National Rural livelihood Mission) every measure is being taken for the formation of WSHG Funding and crediting are being given a fine tuning now here.

There is no bank in a radius of 17 to 18 kilometers at Kekargarh and an SHG has to fall upon the bank regularly for revolving funds/credit etc. How will you meet this distress of WSHG at Kekargarh if formedIJ

let me explain it is not incumbent for any SHG or WSHG to knock at the door of a bank every day . It is once or twice a month’s affair.  And it can be done by women too. I tell you it is not the same Kekargarh which it was a year or so back. Things are looking up there.
