The Raghubar Das Government is all set to present its Budget for 2017-18 on Monday in the Assembly which is going to have special mention about socially backward classes of the State.

Indications suggest that the Government would be presenting separate budgetary estimates targeted to SC, ST and OBC for this time like it did for women and agriculture sector on the previous occasion. Chief Minister Raghubar Das who would be reading out the annual financial account would also propose some new welfare schemes for the upliftment of the socially backward classes.

“Chances of new schemes for SC, ST and other backward classes to be announced in the Budget are there since the Government has expressed its desire to make them financial sound and independent. Some schemes for generating self-employment for the section may come,” said a Minister in the Cabinet.

It is also learnt that size of the Budget, which is going to be clubbed together and not separate under plan and non-plan heads done before, would be around 10 per cent more than the current financial year.

On the previous occasion the Government had estimated plan expenditure in the tune of Rs37,065.35 crore and non-plan at Rs26,437.34 crore, taking the total to Rs63,502.69 crore.
