The annual angling competition to mark JRD Tata’s birth 110th anniversary failed to attract the crowd due to cloudy weather. About 30-odd anglers from Ghatshila, Kolkata, Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and Jamshedpur participated at the Jayanti Sarovar in Jubilee Park.
Jamshedpur Angling Club (JAC) secretary Geoffrey Bonjour said that weather coupled with Eid has played spoilsport to the competition. “The participation was low this time but the enthusiasm was palatable”. lee Chee Seng David, senior executive of Shimano (Singapore) Pvt
ltd, manufacturers of fishing equipment, also watch the anglers in action. The Japanese also examined the equipment used by the contestants and advised them to use the better ones. This annual event is patronized by anglers from all over the country to mark the birth anniversary of JRD Tata.
