Former Chief Minister and leader of Opposition Hemant Soren claimed that he had been misled by officials when in office. The JMM leader stressed that he was in favour of keeping the regional languages in the JPSC Civil Service Examination and had even mentioned this in a file noting. "I had queried when the file came before me and had asked why the regional languages of the State are not there in the exam. The official misguided me then and got approved a wrong proposal somehow. It is not possible for a Chief Minister or Prime Minister to read the entire file page by page," said the lOP on Wednesday in a Press conference.
He went on alleging that this might have been done under some conspiracy and put the onus on the incumbent Government to probe and identify "such officials involved in the goof-up."
The JPSC had removed nine regional languages for 5th Civil Services Exam from the syllabus based on a Government notification in 2014 in this regard at the time when Soren was at the helm.
He, on the occasion, also reiterated that issues such as domicile, Icha-Kharkai dam and land acquisition are crucial for the State.
"We have been raising these issues as they are burning issues before the State and are linked with basic purposes behind the formation of Jharkhand. Now even members from the ruling party have highlighted the domicile policy matter. I want to know what is preventing them from declaring the policy," asked Soren.
On the Government's claim that political parties did not respond to the consultation process initiated on domicile policy, he termed it a lie. "The Government is telling a lie. We have given notice to discuss the matter in the Assembly but they turned it down. We have also submitted a model on the matter. They believe in sophistication but the JMM would respond with bow and arrow on the streets," he said.
later, JVM's Pradeep Yadav also asked the Government for the reason behind the delay on making domicile policy public. "We would hold a demonstration on Thursday on this vital question. The Government should not drag its feet even for a day now," he said.
