Vote, get onions ‘free’!

A tyre merchant in the city will give 1 kg of onions free to his customers who will cast vote on Saturday at Assembly polls. The idea is to motivate people to vote and also protest against rising prices of onions. The price of a kilo of onion is Rs 120.

On Saturday and Sunday he will start free distribution of onions to his customers to protest against steeply escalating prices and ‘failed’ Government policies to control deadly inflation which had already tormented the commoners.

Satnam Singh Gambhir, president of Bihar-Jharkhand unit of All India Sikh Students Federation, today announced to give a kg onion to all the customers of a car tyre from his shop situated in downtown Sakchi area. “I want to spread awareness on importance of voting and I want to bring some smile over the faces of my customers. This is also a way to protest the inability of the Gvernment on the price control front. This scheme would last till Sunday,” he added.
