To entice the people of State capital and to inculcate the noble ideas, values and thoughts of Swami Vivekananda among the youth, the State Government has planned to set up a statue of Swami Vivekananda at an islet situated at Ranchi lake popularly known as ‘Bada Talab’ among the denizens of state capital.
Citing details about the project, Secretary Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Avinash Kumar informed, “The state government has taken the initiative to set up a statue of ‘Youth Icon’ Swami Vivekananda at Ranchi lake in the coming days. On the occasion of National Youth Day, CM Raghubar Das will lay the foundation of this ambitious project. Dates are yet to be decided but it will take place during the ongoing seven days ‘Yuvamahotshav’ programme.”
“The Detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared. There are several factors which need to be considered before the plan goes on floor. It also involves certain technicality and study of ground level feasibility which will take some time. However, we have selected the location appropriately so that the statue is visible from every direction and enhances the beauty of prominent Ranchi lake. The length, height, breadth and width with every minute detail are being analyzed and everything will be finalized soon,” added Kumar.
To mark the birth anniversary of Vivekananda the Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs department will also organize ‘Yuvamahotshav’ from January 12 to January 18. Various events which include Kite flying, Marathon, Cycling, painting and varied cultural activities are being planned by the concerned department. Morabadi ground will be the venue for all the events. Approximately 5000 people from different districts will participate in the seven days sports and cultural extravaganza.
It is an initiative of Round Table India and Government of Jharkhand to provide the youths an opportunity to showcase their skills and talent. In 1984 the Government of India declared January 12 as the National Youth Day and since 1985 the event is celebrated in India every year. Every year, the state government organizes sports, cultural and other events to celebrate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
