Vinoba Bhave varsity's reputation at stake?

Published on:

Reputation of State-run Vinoba Bhave University is at stake. Evaluation of answer books is once again at the centre of this story. This time the working pattern of present officials of VBU is also under question mark because the story is about 6 months old and no action has been taken so far.

In July 2015 centralised evaluation of degree part two 2015 answer books took place here. A head examiner reported to the center director that in an answer book his co-examiner and he himself found absurd writing in place of answers required. He gave all details of that answer book in his written complaint.

The center director forwarded this complaint to the examination controller of Vinoba Bhave University but it remained unheard. Results were declared in which that examinee was declared failed because of no marks in one paper of his honors subject i.e. history.

The head examiner who had made the complaint, made many verbal requests to probe the matter but no one listened to him. On the contrary the VBU administration kept him away from the evaluation work of degree part one 2015 exam despite he is a senior teacher having no question mark on his sincerity yet.

According to VBU sources the university administration kept him away from part one evaluation work to pass him and others a message to not indulge in the matters which can prove difficult to be solved. It is actually the working pattern of present administration which irks the teacher, non-teachings and even students of this university time to time resulting in agitation after agitation.

Fortunately the complainant teacher won the senate election and thus got a voice which cannot be easily ignored. After making many verbal requests he once again gave a written complaint to the pro-vice chancellor with an ultimatum that if university administration will do nothing then he will write to chancellor’s office.

In last meeting of examination board the matter was tabled. Answer books of other papers of that examinee were put on the table. A member said to The Pioneer that in entire answer book there was nothing about the subject. It was full of absurd writing and figures of Kamsutra. The language was like the cheap books sold illegally in the market. I had wrote same thing in my part one exam and was declared passed with good marks last year, it was a part of the daring writing of that examinee in the answer books.

As per the decision taken in examination board meeting show-cause notices have been sent to the head examiners and examiners of other papers of that examinee who had already given 55-60 marks to him. About one week after the issue of show-cause notices no one has replied yet and efforts are still on to save the erring persons.
