The Palamu Tiger reserve has more enemies within than outside. About 4 or 5 villagers of Ganeshpur village under Garu range of PTR strayed into PTR jungle and with muzzle loaded gun made a bid on a wild boar which had a miraculous escape. It was a blunt case of poaching which failed not because of any intervention by the PTR officials but by the gun itself!
Mahalinga M Kumar deputy director south PTR has confirmed this use of muzzle loaded gun to poach the wild boar. He said the boar escaped the shot.
He said our men raided a couple of houses at Ganeshpur to flush out muzzle loader gun but in vain as villagers mobbed our men and asked them to go back.
Mahling said he would now write to Chhipadohar police station to intervene and seize muzzle loader guns at Ganeshpur.
The killing a of single tusk elephant with two muzzle loaded guns at lookoom Kharn has alarmed the PTR officials too much. Muzzle loader gun is a very handy weapon in PTR's villages.
Seized muzzle loaded guns are not 'fired' in PTR jungles as then it would mean far more disasters said Anil K Mishra deputy director North PTR.
Mishra said there are around 12 security posts in PTR where are deployed CRPF and if any such seized gun is fired there is bound to come a storm of firing from CRPF as the ranges of PTR are haven for those who challenge law and order and security forces just do not take any shot fired any casually but react to it with all seriousness.
He said every seized such gun is neutralised in the camp of security forces!.
Security forces have allowed this too. Our PTR officials have been given strict warning not to 'fire ' seized such guns in jungles of PTR in order to neutralize it. All neutralisation is done in camp of security forces Mishra reiterated.
The recent seized such a gun in Kutku range was neutralised in the Madgiri base camp of the security force he informed.
