Villagers detain Reliance officials

Residents of Panderia village detained five officers of Reliance Coal Company who had gone there to conduct a survey on Sunday. They introduced themselves as the officials of irrigation department to the villagers. When the people asked for their identity proof, they became silent. This made the villagers a bit insecure and so they tied up those five officials.

When the police came to know about it they rushed to the spot and rescued the officers. The five officers of Reliance Coal Company, namely Rajat Kumar Kuntiya, Rupesh Verma, Vinod Khanna, Mukesh Kumar and Umakant reached the village to conduct the survey along with staffs and apparatus of measuring land.

After getting the information sub-inspector of Barkagaon police station Arun Kumar Singh, JSI Ramesh Bhagat and Vinod Kumar reached there with police team.

The villagers are annoyed with the decision of allotment of coal belts to different companies in this area. In May-June 2012 when the public hearing on environmental issues was going in Town Hall, Hazaribagh, the villagers opposed the hearing and police had lathi charged on them. In that incident the local congress MlA Yogendra Sao and JVM leaders KP Sharma and Gautam Sagar Rana were badly injured.

last week in the Hazaribagh collectorate MlA Yogendra Sao and ex-MP Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Mehta caught the officers of Rohane Coal Company trying to purchase the land of some Scheduled Tribe villagers who were well drunk. Both accused the coal company officers trying to grab the land using the liquor. After this incident Registrar refused to complete the registration work.

Here in this case no complaint has been lodged by the Reliance officers in the local police station. The DSP of Hazaribagh headquarter Satish Kumar Jha confirmed the incidence. He said that officers of the company should have informed the police before reaching there. If they would have done so, then the police surely could have given them security.
