Despite attempts made by the family members of the victims of Priti fake murder case, an FIR could not lodged at the Dhurwa police station on Sunday. In a report submitted by the CID on Saturday it was stated that the allegations made by the family members of the victims of the case are true. They were asked to lodge an FIR against those responsible for keeping the three innocent youths - Ajeet along with two of his friends Amarjeet and Abhimanyu - in jail for over four months.
Family members of the victims - Ajit and Amarjeet - were kept waiting for hours at Dhurwa police station on Sunday who had gone there to lodge their complaint. “After a long wait, we were told that FIR could be lodged before the officer in charge only who is presently not available here,” said the victim Ajit Kumar. According to the policemen, the OC will come here tomorrow morning at 9:30, added Kumar.
“Finally we have decided knock the doors of higher officials if the FIR is not lodged tomorrow. We will not let them go so easily who tried to play with our lives,” said Ajit Kumar.
“When we tried to contact the officer in charge over phone, he said that he will decide on the FIR only after looking into it; we will go to the court again if needed,” Ajit said.
Dhurwa OC however, said that he will look into the matter tomorrow. “As I am on a raid today, I have asked them to come tomorrow morning followed by which proper action will be taken after looking into the matter,” said Dhurwa OC.
Amarjeet Yadav and Ajit Kumar along with their family members had come to the Dhurwa Police Station to lodge and FIR against the then OC of Chutia Police Station Krisha Murari, Priti’s father Surendra Singh, mother as well as twelve others who identified the unknown dead body to be of Priti.
“We want that those responsible for fabricating the case due to which my brother had to remain in jail for over four months must be punished,” said Dhirendra Kumar. Abhimanyu’s family are yet to make up their mind for lodging a formal complaint against the persons responsible for putting the three behind the bars for several for over four months.
A criminal writ petition seeking compensation for Ajit Kumar has already been filed in the Jharkhand High Court on September 16 along with a demand to file an FIR against those who were responsible for keeping the petitioner for over four months in jail for the crime which actually did not take place. SSP, DSP, IO along with Priti’s parents, who identified the body of an unknown as his daughter, have been made party in the case.
On February 19, a police investigation indicated that Priti was gang-raped and set ablaze apparently to hide the evidences. The trio’s ordeal started when a girl’s partially burnt body was recovered about 40 km from Ranchi on February 15 at an isolated place between Gosaidih and Majhi Toli in Bundu police station area.
According to police reports, a girl hailing from Sai Colony, Chutia, had gone to Dhurwa dam with her boyfriend Ajit for a Valentine’s Day date where she was gang raped and killed by him along with the help of his friends Amarjit and Abhimanyu. The girl’s parents even identified the body leading to the arresting of three youths.
Ironically, the trio had to remain in jail for several months even after Priti, whose rape and murder charges had landed them in prison, resurfaced and was taken to the police. Ajeet along with two of his friends — Amarjeet and Abhimanyu — had been lodged in jail for about four months for the crime which they actually had not committed.
