Recently the Supreme Court of India had given an important judgement according to which the victim’s family will get one-third amount of the jail inmate’s earning in cases of murder.
Hazaribagh district administration has initiated steps to follow the ruling.
On Saturday, DC Sunil Kumar sat with AC Ranjan Choudhary, Jail Superintendent M Hassan, District Supply Officer Awadh Narayan Prasad, DSP Arvind Kumar Singh, DEO Rajkumar Singh and representatives of industry department and Jharcraft to discuss on this issue.
The JP Jail administration had sent a list of 6 inmates of this category for necessary direction to the DC office. In the meeting DC directed the jail superintendent to submit the database of all such inmates presently in JP Central Jail and Hazaribagh open Jail.
He also directed the concerned officials to go through the documents and to trace the victim’s family so that their bank account numbers can be obtained and one-third amount of inmate’s earning can be transferred to them through that account.
In this meeting, after discussion one proposal of transfer of an inmate from JP Central jail to open jail was cleared, out of 8 proposals sent by the JP jail administration. DC Sunil Kumar directed the jail superintendent to send only those proposals in which the inmates fulfill all the requisites for being transferred in open jail.
