Vedanta ESL launches large-scale sapling distribution drive

Vedanta ESL, a prominent steel manufacturer, reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and community development by distributing over 4000 fruit-bearing tree saplings to villages near its plant.

The initiative, in collaboration with the Environment Department, focused on afforestation, enhancing biodiversity, and providing sustainable nutrition and economic opportunities. Saplings of Mango, Banana, Guava, Amla, and Jackfruit, selected for their adaptability and nutritional value, were distributed among residents.

Speaking at the event, Kunal Daripa, Head of CSR at Vedanta ESL, said, “This sapling drive reflects our commitment to fostering sustainability and community well-being. We aim to create a greener future while supporting local livelihoods.”

Local leaders praised the initiative. Jitun Ansari, Mukhiya of Chandaha, remarked, “These saplings symbolize a sustainable source of nutrition and income for our community. We are grateful for this meaningful program.”

This project is part of Vedanta ESL’s broader CSR strategy, addressing global sustainability goals by improving air quality, supporting biodiversity, and promoting economic self-reliance through the sale of surplus produce.
