Vice-Chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University Nitin Madan Kulkarni has quashed the decision of VC quota system in admission in different courses of Vinoba Bhave University.
About six years ago the syndicate has decided that the Vice-Chancellor will have a quota of two seats in each course of each college and departments of the university. Initially it was used by the VCs judiciously but later on it converted as a controversial decision as complains started pouring in that some middlemen are extracting money using this power of Vice-Chancellor.
Actually the Vice -Chancellors used this power to please the political leaders and workers and members of senate syndicate and other statutory bodies. Some teachers and staff also got benefited by this special power of Vice Chancellor and the poor but intelligent students for whom this special provision was made were left behind.
When Dr Kulkarni took over as VC, syndicate member Sanwarmal Agarwal told him the entire story. After making enquiry on Thursday he finally ordered to quash the order. Today a notification has been issued by the Registrar in which end of VC quota in admissions has been stated.
