The university and college teachers of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, organized a one day protest at the university headquarters on Saturday. The protest was organized on the call of Federation of University Teachers Association of Jharkhand (FUTAJ) to protest against the State government's anti-teacher and anti-higher education policies.
The Retired Teachers' Association also joined in the protest as they have not been receiving their pension for a long time.
The teachers were agitated as despite budgetary allocation the State Government has not released the salary in the current financial year.
The protesting teachers also claimed that despite the funds being provided to the State by Universities Grants Commission (UGC) the government has not approved the pay fixation of teachers under the seventh pay commission.
Also, the teachers were unhappy as despite strict directives of the Chancellor, Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has still not approved promotion of university teachers which is due for several years.
