Grandparents are the family’s strong foundation. To honour them, Sarala Birla Public School, Ranchi celebrated Vatsalyam: Grandparents’ Day with gaiety on the theme ‘BIO RHYTHM – the song of life’ which also revolves around SDG 15: Life on land. The energetic learners took the opportunity to show their love and gratitude towards their parents and grandparents through programmes.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by Ganesh vandana and a welcome dance. The school magazine was also released by the Principal. Under PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0, the skill hub initiative undertaken by SBPS, Ranchi, the participants of the Assistant Beauty Therapist course were given their certificates by the Principal. Thereafter, the main programme commenced in which the students presented the saga of the life cycle of a butterfly and connected it with various stages of human life. The stages portrayed the struggle of a beautiful butterfly to exert its existence from the initial stage of a larva, similarly human life also encounters several obstacles which every individual needs to overcome through his/her hard work and perseverance.

The event highlighted the bond between the grandparents and the children. Their enthralling performances left the audience spellbound and thoroughly mesmerized. The success of the event was evident from the joyful smiles of the grandparents as they were overwhelmed to see their grandchildren performing for them. It was a memorable moment for them as they left with pleasant memories, appreciation and heaps of blessings to the school and Management.

Principal, Paramjit Kaur, expressed her gratitude to all for making the event successful. She highlighted the importance of Grandparents in the lives of young learners and how they inculcate values and help them to remain connected with their roots. She further added that to survive in this world of cut throat competitions and the escalating expenses, we usually are inclined upon our children having an IQ so high that they can earn to the max when they grow up. We should instead focus on Inheritance of Invaluable Qualities (IIQ). If we put only money and success in their head, they will weigh every relationship from a very materialistic perspective and eventually never become successful in interpersonal relationships. We need to give them values which can contain success and money.
