A class XI student of Valley View School sustained serious injuries after falling from the second floor of the three-storeyed building on Thursday morning. Anjali Kumari (18) was rushed to Tata Main Hospital with head injuries, where she is being attended by senior surgeons.
While the girl's parents were not willing to speak about the fall, the school management claimed it was just an accident. According to sources, however, Anjali was unhappy after the school forced her to replace mathematics with Hindi as a subject.
“ She is a good student but had failed in Maths weekly test very recently. She was being pressurized to change her subject to Hindi, which she was not willing. We think she might have tried to attempt suicide ,” sources added.
When contacted mother of the victim Poonam Kumari suspected some fishy in the incident and demanded a probe. She did not rule out the possibility of foul play. “My daughter was not happy with the treatment being met on her by the teachers. She was being forced to change her subjects,” she noted.
Officer-in-charge, Telco police station Kamleswar Pandey said they have the information that a girl had fallen down from the school building, but as of now no formal complaint neither from the parents nor the school authority has come to them. "We will initiative a probe into the matter only when we get a complaint from the parents," said Pandey.
School officials said several students saw the girl falling.
