Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) Vice-Chancellor Jeorge John on Sunday reiterated with conviction that BAU will stand for best agricultural university in the country soon.
On the occasion of 36th founding day of the university, he thanked to all those who left no stone unturned to see this institution taking shape of a premier agri-university in the country. He also praised the Alma mater of the university who became its brand ambassadors wherever they went to work or to serve across the globe.
In presence of Ranchi MP Ramtahal Choudhary and Kanke MlA Jeetu Charan Ram, John said that the university has achieved so many milestones in over last three decades and a half. He said, “This is one of the oldest agricultural universities in country. We have developed a pig-breed last year and a chicken-breed this very year itself which have got tremendous response. We are trying hard to stand on the expectations of government and farmers of the state and we will continue to do so.”
John also added that being the only agricultural university in the State where more than 60 per cent of the population and 70 per cent of the workforce are involved in agriculture, the expectations turned scary quite a time. But this also became the greatest source of motivation for those involved in agri-research here. The event was attended by a number of agriculture-dignitaries from the university and students as well.
The MlA on the occasion said that it was pleasant to represent a constituency where such an institution of international repute had been functioning since years. He said, “It has helped farmers of not only Jharkhand, but also of rest of the country a lot with its research works for the help of farmers. I have visited similar institutions in Madhya Pradesh and some other parts of country as well. They all mention BAU with an awe and a great place to learn. This University has already become a reference for them.”
Choudhary said that the university was pride of Jharkhand. He said that he would keep on becoming voice of university at all appropriate platforms, so that the problems and issues in front of the university could be addressed. He said, “BAU is not only fertile for crop seeds, but also for agri-scientists and researchers. At the same time, I would also request the VC to take appropriate steps so that issues of vacant posts and casual staff here could be addressed sooner than later.”
The University felicitated farmers on the occasion who have done extraordinary works in different parts of the state. Other than best students of the university in their respective courses, Yoga instructors who have made World Yoga Day successful in university since last two years and encouraged everyone in the University to include Yoga in their daily routine were also felicitated.
