Another iconic puja pandal of the Capital City, Rajasthan Mitra Mandal has come up with an inimitable theme being primed up only with the use of organic stuffs. Best known for its concepts which often has a royal touch to boost the whole idea has been mingled with the affluent art works, cultures and traditions of three major States of India -- Rajasthan, Bihar and Jharkhand to craft out an antiquated shrine, this year.

Apart from interior and exterior décor, the theme has been amalgamated with a touch of patriotism.

From adorning the Ship of the Dessert – Camels made up of terracotta at the entrance to using bamboo mats, paddy straws in bedecking puja pandal , use of recyclable materials for decoration is not just confined to a few pandals based on different themes but has become one of the most popular picks of this festive season. Rajasthan Mitra Mandal, taking up the ‘green initiative’ ahead has made significant use of bamboo mats and baskets in decorating the puja pandal.

Matching with the theme of fictitious astonishing archaic shrine, the creative hands have given a distinct look to the deities. The idols have been made using pearls and other imitation gemstone. This is the only puja pandal that has used miniature pearls primarily in decorating sculpts. The puja pandal measure 45 feet in height and is being adorned at a whopping cost of Rs s23 lakh.

With no use of synthetic colours and harmful substances in decoration, the striking antiquated temple is being crafted out with bulk use of biodegradable materials showcasing the blend of different architectural heritages, art and crafts of the three States. “The concept of the puja pandal is based on patriotism. The figurines of the deities have been given a look of ‘Bharat Mata’. Through light and sound technology, a short story of courage and nation devotion will be shown here where deities will be giving weapons to the soldiers. It is our tribute to the martyrs.

The entire puja pandal has been designed using eco-friendly materials. Use of special effects has been done prominently,” said Rajasthan Mitra Mandal, president, Ashok Purohit.

Further, to enhance the beauty of the puja pandal, use of miniature patch work using sea shells and other decorative knick-knacks has been done by the artists. Around 50 artists from West Bengal at the site are giving final touch to the decoration.

The puja pandal theme that pulls ample crowd every year will be opened for the pandal hoppers on Shasthi (sixth day of puja).
