Use of recyclable materials for bedecking the puja pandals is not just confined to few pandals based on sundry themes but has become one of the most popular picks of this festive season. Another iconic puja pandal of the Capital City, Rajasthan Mitra Mandal, taking up the ‘green initiative’ has utilised natural mattresses in decorating the puja pandal.

Keeping the theme of dreamy astonishing archaic shrine found in North-Eastern (NE) regions, the creative hands have brought the concept alive here. With no use of harmful paints or synthetic colours, the striking antiquated temple is just being crafted with bulk use of natural mattresses showcasing the blend of NE architectural heritage.

Enhancing the beauty of the pandal, diminutive patch work depicting shells, blossoms, Nataraja (the dancing Shiva) has been designed by the artists with the blend of beige and burgundy colours use. Around 50 artists at the site are giving final touch to the theme.

One of the most tantalizing puja pandal designs that pulls ample crowd every year will be opened for the leisure buffs from today. In an attempt to match with the design and decoration of the other puja pandals, special attention to enhance the interior beauty with colourful wall hangings, golden beads has been done here.

Matching with the interior decoration of the pandal, the figurines of the deities has been made with pearls and other imitation gemstone. This is the only puja pandal that has used miniature pearls primarily in decorating sculpts. The special illumination effects will be creatively mixed to spread the charm of the theme.

The puja pandal, 45 ft. in height is being adorned at a whopping cost of Rs 11 lakh. Artists from Katai Village of West Medinipur district in West Bengal are working on all creative aspects to beautify the pandal.

“Maximum stuffs used for decorating puja pandal are bio-degradable. Considering the toxic waste generated unknowingly after puja, we are trying to focus only on organic decorative materials for bedecking pandal. Also, it is cost-effective too. Since past two months, artists have been involved in the task. Natural stuffs give more generous look to the concept,” said, president, Rajasthan Mitra Mandal, Ashok Purohit.
