Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi has directed RINPAS officials to utilise government resources aptly and timely, so that the institute remained relevant and kept helping people living a mentally healthy life. On the occasion of 92nd Foundation Day of Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS) on Monday, Chief Guest of the occasion Chandravanshi expressed displeasure over non-expenditure of government provided funds for various causes.

“It is unfortunate that numerous renovation related programmes and projects stand pending at various stages due to many reasons. One the other hand, the institute has not demonstrated quest for utilizing government provided funds in past. This situation will have to be changed and officials need to sit together and work closely for betterment of the institute which otherwise has earned immense reputation in serving mentally challenged people of region and neighbouring states too,” said Chandravanshi.

The Minister also said that the institute with a history of over 200 years needed to play larger role in eliminating social evils like bitch-hunting and others, which remained deeply rooted in tribal areas where mental illness used to be hidden as much as possible. Ranchi MP Ramtahal Choudhary, Kanke MlA Dr Jeetu Charan Ram, Mandar MlA Dr Gangotri Kujoor, Birsa Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Dr Parvinder Kaushal, Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) Director Dr D Ram, South Chhotanagpur Commissioner and RINPAS Managing Committee Chairman DC Mishra, RINPAS Medical Superintendent AK Nag and others were also present on the occasion.
