Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities Dr Syed Ahmed said on Wednesday that the Birsa Agricultural University should use its technical abilities and labour to increase its revenue. In a one-to-one meeting with BAU VC George John and senior officials at Raj Bhawan on Wednesday, it was discussed that the BAU should use its vacant or barren land pieces for agricultural activities. University should set a target for its departments to increase their revenues so that they can work accordingly.
A detailed report of the plan of action for the year 2015-16 should be submitted within 15 days. The matter of appointing teachers in the faculty of Veterinary Sciences on contractual basis was raised during the meeting so that aspiring veterinary sciences candidates don't have to face difficulties when applying for session 2015-16.
VC George John requested that salary and pension funds should be provided at once in the beginning of the financial year. In response to this, the varsity was asked to submit expenditure details to the State Government and was assured that at least the pension funds will be provided as requested so that pensioners get their pension on time. BAU VC also demanded that third and fourth grade non-teaching BAU staff, like State Government employees, should receive benefits of ACP/MACP. It was agreed that strategic decision needs to be taken in this matter.
Transferring University headquarters, Forestry University, College of Biochemistry and Zonal Research Stations from Dumka, Chiyanki and Darisai from planning to non-planning was also discussed during the meeting so they can be operated on a regular basis. They have been operating under planning head for the past despite being of regular nature and were consented to be run uninterrupted for welfare of the State.
