Considering India, the booming place for the start-up projects, US entrepreneur Jennifer Iannalo visited the Capital City to interact with the selected group of students giving them valuable tips on how to be a successful entrepreneur. In the run up to the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017, the US Consulate, Kolkata in collaboration with the Butterfly project organized US entrepreneur Iannalo’s workshop here on Saturday.

The GES scheduled to be organized from November 29-30 at Hyderabad will bring the budding entrepreneurs at a common platform for sharing ideas, discussing challenges faced across the globe while bridging the gaps. Targeting the females for adding on to the existing workforce, the theme of GES 2017 is ‘Women first, prosperity for all’.

Iannalo, who not just believes in bringing the new viewpoint to the concept of empowerment, said “We must remember that globally, all of us especially females have to face similar problems. Approximately, only 10 per cent women here are engaged in some or the other job while quite a number of females despite having adequate qualification do not know what to pursue further and needs proper guidance.”

Iannalo, the Founder and CEO of the Concordia Project, a company working on creating global conversations around women’s empowerment further said that from idea to execution, if an individual gets the assistance, it is easy to get the vision transformed into reality in a stimulated time.

Around 56 selected students from Ranchi University, Kolhan University, VBU and CUJ - across seven colleges attended the workshop putting forward their queries in context of start-ups especially highlighting their major hurdles on exploring something new. From sharing personal experiences to asking about the technical glitches in handling any venture, the students’ got a firsthand input from Iannalo.

The workshop for post graduate students from different institutions from across the State, was attended by students mostly coming from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Dhanbad. The workshop also helped in assisting the participants to design an action plan for the project they want pursue and a way to deliver on those goals.

‘How to have it all’, a questionnaire covering basics like what are the areas where you struggle the most, how can a woman overcome family pressure and become a successful entrepreneur, not just helped out in busting students’ comfort zones but also helped in empowering the budding entrepreneurs covering several facets.
