The Urban Development department on Tuesday debarred Essel Infra, a solid waste management company, from taking up any other project of Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) until the work of sanitation is streamlined well here.
The decision was taken during the Urban Development Department review meeting presided by Minister CP Singh in the wake of rising concern of present sanitation status in the State capital.
“Even after issuing several warnings and extending the time limitation of the concerned firm, the company has failed miserably in delivering the duties as per the agreement signed by them. Though the Town Commissioner has been instructed to conduct meeting with Essel Infra officials and draft a proposal focusing on coverage of all the wards but if the company yet again fails to cover all the wards, it will be blacklisted,” said the Minister.
Singh also said that after reviewing the work of Essel Infra, it was found that even the task of constructing mini-transfer stations at remaining nine places are yet to be completed. Besides, the company is entangled in some or the other controversy like labourers strike, account row etc.
Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner, Shaantanu Agrahari who was present during meeting, said, “After reviewing the work of the company, it has been found out that none of the task taken up by the concerned agency got complete in time. Hence, after discussing the strategy of the firm on Wednesday, a final draft will be prepared. If the company fails, it will be blacklisted and no further work will be allotted to the company in near future in RMC.”
The Minister, during the meet, also reviewed the status of the sewerage drainage project. The officials of Jyoti Build Tech Private limited, the company handling the project of sewerage drainage work, have been instructed to complete the work within a stipulated time, failing which stringent action will be taken against them.
Notably, the department had paid Rs 44 crore to the concerned company for drainage work. On the other hand, NJS Pvt. ltd. officials handling the pipeline project have been also instructed to submit the details of work progress and deadline as well for completing the task at the earliest to the concerned department officials.
