The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Preliminary Examination (PT) was conducted today in the capital Ranchi under strict surveillance and strict security arrangements. This examination is being conducted at 48 examination centers in the city under extensive preparations made under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Anjani Kumar Mishra. A total of 21,800 candidates have appeared in the examination being held in two shifts.

The first shift was from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and the second shift from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The candidates were instructed to reach the centers half an hour before the start of the examination, which was widely complied with.

The admit cards and identity cards of all the candidates were thoroughly checked. Also, entry was allowed only after a strict search for any type of electronic device. To maintain peace during the examination, a control room has been active in the Divisional Commissioner's Office since 7 am, which is keeping a close watch on all activities.

Senior officials have also been appointed to monitor the examination. Rural Development Secretary K. Srinivasan, Tourism and Art Culture Secretary Manoj Kumar and School Education and Literacy Department Secretary Umashankar Singh have been made observers.

Section 163 of BNSS was implemented within 200 meters of all examination centers, so that the movement of unauthorized persons can be stopped and transparency is maintained in the examination.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the Civil Services Preliminary Examination today, May 25, as scheduled. The exam comprised two objective-type papers: General Studies (GS) Paper 1 and the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), also known as Paper 2.

The GS Paper 1 assessed candidates on subjects such as history, geography, political science, economics, and developments in science and technology. The CSAT paper evaluated comprehension, logical reasoning, and analytical abilities. Each paper carried 200 marks.

Candidates were advised to retain their e-Admit Card until the final results of the 2025 Civil Services Examination are announced. They were also instructed to carefully read the "Important Instructions" attached to their admit card.

The exam centre gates closed 30 minutes before the scheduled start time - 9 AM for the morning session and 2 PM for the afternoon session. Candidates were required to reach the venue at least 60 minutes before the reporting time and carry a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, voter ID, or driving licence) along with a printed copy of the admit card.

Candidates are now eagerly awaiting the release of the answer key and cutoff marks. The prelims results will determine which candidates qualify for the next stage of the Civil Services Examination.
