Uproar in House over JPSC results

The Opposition cornered the State Government in the House on Wednesday, and demanded that the civil services examinations results announced by JPSC on Sunday should be postponed till a decision comes from the Jharkhand high court in this regard.

The Opposition leaders raising their demands even protested outside the House with placards raising slogans against the Government. JVM’s Pradeep Yadav along with other leaders also moved an adjournment motion in this regard but was rejected by the Speaker.

Raising the issue, Opposition leader Hemant Soren said that it was a serious matter as the rights of the poor are being snatched from them and most of the candidates from a single coaching institute have cleared the examinations.

The House was calmed down only after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Roy agreed to the proposal made by JMM’s Stephen Marandi to discuss the matter in the Speaker’s chamber along with the leaders of all parties. The meeting, however, after a short discussion remained inconclusive, and was postponed till Thursday. JMM MlA Amit Mahto alleged heavy discrepancies in results announced by the JPSC in connivance with the State Government.

“What was the compulsion of the State government that the results were announced on Sunday while the matter was pending in the court and as many as 60 candidates got qualified from a single coaching institute,” said JMM MlA Kunal Sarangi. Until and unless any decision comes from the court, announcement of results should be postponed and results should be published only after a thorough probe into these points, demanded Sarangi.

JMM MlA Champai Soren, during the question hour, also raised the issue of heavy discrepancies in Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana where construction work of several roads was given to the outside agencies.

The opposition leaders also asked the minister concerned to give clarification, who, however, rejected the allegations that any of the work has been given to any outside agency.

“We have not allotted any of the construction work to a central agency since this government has taken charge. We get the matters investigated as and when required and action is also taken where any sort of discrepancy is found by the investigating agency,” said Rural Development Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda.

Munda further added that vigilance inquiry has been ordered into as many as 240 road projects where discrepancies were found. Anyone who comes under the scanner will not be spared, added Munda.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Raghubar Das, during discussion over the budget in the House announced that the State Government will make Godrej benches available in each of the government schools in the rural areas within two years. leader of opposition Hemant Soren dubbed the present budget as dead and insensitive, and alleged that there appears to be a lack of synchronization between actual budget and the Economic Survey presented by the Government.
