The conflict among two groups of students on Wednesday in the library at Ranchi University, Morhabadi campus came to fore some issues in the library.
Two groups of students in the RU library clashed among each other over the issue of seats at around 11 am. The incident has highlighted the fact that RU library has become a den of unruly youths, who indulge in frequent scuffles.
“This is not for the first time when we are dealing with such cases in the Ranchi University. Students and their various groups often indulge themselves in such incidents. This is also because several students, who have already completed their course also visit the library. No proper system of checking ID cards is being maintained in the university campus,” mentioned Sergeant Abhinav Kumar of Ranchi police line.
“Often students bribe the security guard to get inside the library and create chaos as limited seats are available in the library,” Kumar further added.
Earlier also such incidents have taken place, but the college authorities had failed to control such anti-social activities. “Approximately, 30-35 students clashed with each other in the library. On seeing the police, the youths disappeared from the spot. We always check ID cards and then, allow the students to enter the library, but often taking the advantage of crowd, few students gets inside the library. It is not always possible to keep a check on it,” said Kumar Charan, guard deputed at the library gate.
After the incident took place, as many as 65-70 police personnel from various zones were present on the spot. Even the Jharkhand armed force – 1 women wing took the command in order to combat any untoward situation.
