After taking over the charge of office of the Vice Chancellor the Divisional Commissioner of North-Chotanagpur Surendra Singh had said that the work culture of university needs some modification for quick disposal of works. On 21st November noon he sat with the officers of the university and took some revolutionary decisions which were never ever taken by any Vice Chancellor of any university of both Bihar and Jharkhand since last 2-3 decades.
Using the power given to the vice-chancellor as per act and statute VC Surendra Singh has delegated the power of disposing files to the registrar of the university. Now for expenses of upto Rs 50,000 there will be no need to send the file to the VC for approval. There was some news about the result of D1 2013 exam. VC is not disposing the file through which the exam department has requested him to order to publish the result. He went through the acts and statutes and found that the power of giving permission of publishing result is vested in examination board.
VC Surendra Singh ordered to convene an emergent meeting of the examination board on an agenda of organising all the exams of session 2013-14, publicising the programs of those exams, fixing the dates of filing of forms, publication of result etc. After getting approval of examination board the examination department will become more independent for every concerned works. Some students who had taken the photo copies of their answer books showed and them to the VC, who after noticing the injustice in evaluation, ordered reevaluation of their answer books.
Today when The Pioneer contacted VC Surendra Singh and tried to know about his future plans, he asked to wait for some time.
