As per the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the new academic session 2020- 23 in various universities and colleges will now begin from November 1 while to compensate for the time lost, there will be no winter and summer breaks. Universities have also been directed to complete the admission process by October 31.

In accordance with the UGC guidelines State universities have also sped up the admission process. With the session commencing from November 1, the first semester exams are to be conducted from March 8 to March 26.

As per sources, the week- long Durga Puja holidays given by Ranchi University (RU) will now be reduced to three or four days while Diwali and Chhath will be for one day each instead of a scheduled 8 eight- day break.

RU sources further claim that the varsity has completed the admission process on the basis of the first list on September 25 while the second list is due to be released on September 28.

“The guidelines released by UGC will be duly followed. In order to take the first semester exams in March the only option is to cut short the holidays,” said RU Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Kamini Kumar.

Following the same, Dr Shyama Prassad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) has completed the application process on the basis of the first two lists while admissions are being accepted on the third list.

In view of the UGC guidelines, the admission process will be duly completed by October 31 and classes for the new academic session will be conducted from November 1.
