The trade union leaders attending a meeting of JBCCI-XI for revision of wages of coal workers have expressed concern over non-committal attitude of CIL over wage revision.
The talks, which were called at New Delhi on Monday evening, were deferred for two months after almost four hours of discussions as union leaders claimed that CIL management failed to give any concrete proposal of revision amidst demand of a 50 per cent hike in basic pay of coal miners from the present one .
Trade Union leaders including Ramendra Kumar, R C Singh, Vseetharamaiya, Lakhan Lal Mahto, Haridwar Singh, Anit Chakraborty from AITUC; K Lakshma Reddy, Surendra Kr Pandey, Sudhir Ghurdey, KP Gupta from BMS; Nathu Lal Pandey, SK Pandey, Sidharth Goutam, and Sheo Kant Pandey from HMs and, DD Ramanandan, Arup Chatterjee and Sujeet Bhattacharya from CITU were present .

The CIL wanted to make sub committees but union leaders were not ready for that and wanted all discussions within the full house. AITUC leader LakhanLal Mahto while talking to Pioneer said that the basic pay of coal miners as on June 30/21 is Rs 36,700 and we have demanded a hike of 50 per cent on this basic pay. Another member Arup Chatterjee of CITU said we were opposed to handing this issue to any sub committee.
All trade union leaders also opposed the move of CIL to ink the deal for 10 years. The next meeting for finalising wage is to be held in January 2022.
