Under-construction multi-crore bridge collapses

Published on:

A multi crore worth upcoming bridge in Palamau collapsed in the first rain of the monsoon.

Its 22 meter deck slab has given way completely. The bridge is coming up on the river Amanat between Dhub Chhaterpur under Panki police station.

Executive engineer special division Suresh Paswan has confirmed this destruction of the bridge saying it was being built very poorly and its being sub standard led to this collapse.

The executive engineer squarely blamed the contractor who is a former Congress MLA of Panki. He said this powerful politician runs a construction company called Sildilya Construction Company.

He said this powerful man has sub-let the construction to one petty contractor Anup Jaiswal.

BJP MLA Shashibhushan Mehta has demanded a high level inquiry into this loss of multi crore of rupees of the state exchequer. Mehta rushed to the site in the rains, said sources.

Mehta said a very look of this bridge tells the tale of sub standard construction where neither the quality of the cement is any up-to the mark nor of the iron bars. It is all bogus, he charged.
