Two stalwarts of SAIL, S. K. Chakrabarty, Chief General Manager (I&S, RM & Steel), and B. K. Das, General Manager (U&S), CET, were given a warm and graceful farewell as they superannuated from their illustrious careers in the organization.
The farewell function, held on 30th April 2025, was a heartfelt celebration of their decades-long dedication and remarkable contributions. It witnessed the gracious presence of distinguished dignitaries including S. K. Verma, Chairman & Managing Director, MECON Ltd. (Chief Guest); Anup Kumar, Executive Director, SSO; S. K. Verma, Executive Director, CET; S. K. Kar, Executive Director, RDCIS; along with the retiring officers themselves.
Senior colleagues offered touching tributes, reminiscing about the professional excellence, integrity, and mentorship of the retirees. Notable among the speakers were Manish Kumar, GM & HoD (U&S); Ganesh Kumar, GM & HoD (Rolling Mills); and M. K. Lal, GM & HoD (I&S). Representatives from SAIL Employees’ Union and ASE also expressed their gratitude and extended their best wishes.
Adding a deeply personal and emotional dimension were reflections by former colleague M. K. Barnwal and moving messages from the daughters of the retiring officers, which touched the hearts of all present.
Addressing the gathering, S. K. Kar, ED, RDCIS; Anup Kumar, ED, SSO; and Chief Guest S. K. Verma, CMD, MECON Ltd., praised the outstanding leadership and invaluable contributions of both officers, applauding their role in steering CET through complex and challenging engineering assignments with finesse.
In their farewell addresses, both Chakrabarty and Das extended heartfelt thanks to their colleagues and the organization for the trust, camaraderie, and support that defined their journey at SAIL.
S. K. Verma, ED, CET, conveyed his best wishes to the retirees on behalf of the CET family, expressing hope for their continued association and highlighting that their wisdom and guidance would always be valued.
The ceremony was a perfect blend of pride, emotion, and celebration—an inspiring tribute to two remarkable careers that have left a lasting legacy in the annals of CET and SAIL.
