Two days after a major dacoity at Madhupatna in Cuttack, two robbery incidents occurred in the capital city in the wee hours of Tuesday.

In the first incident, six masked dacoits looted the house of accountant Surendra Sahu of Sisupalgarh under the Dhauli police limits on the outskirts of the city after breaking open the windows of the house. They decamped with cash worth Rs 15,000 and gold ornaments weighing around 40 grams.

like the Madhupatna dacoity, the miscreants carrying sharp weapons entered a house at around 2.30 am. Once inside, they tied the hands and legs of Surendra and his wife Manini and then committed the crime.

Police sources said most of the dacoits were talking in Hindi. later, the miscreants locked the door before leaving the house and also took away the mobile phones of the couple. In the second case, a gang of five to six armed robbers looted a retired teacher's house at Shyampur under the Khandagiri police station.

As in the Madhupatna case, the masked robbers entered the house (Plot number-790/1344) of Snehalata Sahu near the SUM hospital by cutting the grills and door locks.

They terrorised the family members by brandishing guns and sharp weapons. They then looted cash worth Rs 10,000, 200 grams of gold and 500 grams of silver.

like the Dhauli robbery, the miscreants took the cell phone of Snehalata and locked up the family members before leaving the house.

At 3.30 am, the family members called police that rushed to the spot and started investigation. According to Snehalata, the robbers who entered the house, created a fear psychosis among the family. "I requested them not to harm anybody and they didn't utter a word," she said.

Twin City Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma said a scientific team and a dog squad of police have started investigating into the incidents.
