Two persons including a woman were killed while two others suffered injuries in a road accident on NH-2 near Cherki-Tongari village under Bagodar police station in Giridih district on Thursday morning. A woman Maghani Devi alias lalita Devi and Sohan Mahto died on the spot when a truck hit the auto from behind in which they were travelling.
Two others, Birendra Prasad and Kokil Prasad, were injured and rushed to a local hospital in Dumari in critical condition. After first aid, they were sent to Apollo Ranchi for better treatment. However, the driver of the truck managed to flee with vehicle.
In protest against the death of two persons in road accident on Thursday morning at about 5 am near Cherki-Tongari village under the Bagodar police station, the villagers blocked the NH-2 (GT road) for about three hours. The agitators were demanding compensation for the victims’ families.
Sub-divisional officer Gorang Mahto and Bagodar police in-charge Surendra Kumar Singh reached the spot to pacify the errant mob. The blockade was lifted only after they were assured by the concerned officials of fulfilling the demand. Meanwhile, a large queue of vehicles could be seen.
