Two bodies were recovered in Chiyanki on Thursday. While one of the bodies was of a 35-year-old woman, the other was of 40-year-old man. Officer in charge of Sadar police station Mamta Kumari said the mystery behind the death of these victims deepened as bodies bore no external injury marks.

Police officer further said the bodies were recovered in decomposed state and maggots were found living in the decaying bodies. The male body has been identified to be of Nitesh. Woman's identity could not be established.

Mamta Kumari said Nitesh and this woman were husband and wife and lived in a rented room belonging to Narain Sao, who does not live there and hence he did not know of this.

Asked if the other villagers there too did not smell the stench of the rotting bodies she said this room of Nitesh was in a secluded area and there is no other human habitation there and probably none noticed these husband and wife rotting.

Kumari refused to comment if the couple had a pact suicide following their jejune poverty and destitution. The couple was childless added Mamta Kumari. The room owner Narain Sao told police that Nitesh was so poor that he did not take room rent from him. Police did not recover any card like voter card, Aadhar card, ration card etc from the room where these two decomposed bodies were found by police on Thursday.
