A great tragedy struck two families in Palamu's Naudeeha village when on 8th evening of the nine-day Ram Navami festival two children in the age group of 7 to 9 died by drowning in water starved Naudeeha village of Chhaterpur police station.
The DSP Chhaterpur S Tirkey confirming the death of two children Bikas (9) and Avinash ( 7) said there was a Gayatri Maha Yagya going on at village Naudeeha where these two went in and in a ditch of water there slipped and died.
The DSP Tirkey said the ditch was dun gup to collect the waste water at the Yagya site as there was a huge crowd of devotees there and the luckless children just got into it only to come out dead. The tragedy occurred on Friday evening. Police have registered a UD case he said. Had the guardians been a little alert these lives would not have gone so waste he said.
